Individual Service Exams Background
Civil service exams will prove to be different in various ways, mostly depending on the nature of the job or position one is applying for. However, almost all civil service exams will consist of a multiple choice written exam, covering general knowledge topics and basic academics.
NYS Civil Service
The New York State Civil Service Commission is the governing organization for the state in regards to all matters of the civil service. The NYS Civil Service Commission is made up of a total of three members, each appointed to the position for a term of six years.
Louisiana Civil Service
The Louisiana Civil Service Commission is made up of of seven members, with the final member being elected by civil service peers to serve of the Commission. All members are to serve a six year term on the Commission, having the final authority on all issues in regards to the civil service in the state.
PA Civil Service
There are nearly 60,000 employees in the Pennsylvania Civil Service System. Being based on the merit system, all individuals seeking to obtain a job or career in the civil service are subject to taking a civil service exam, which is administered by the Pennsylvania Civil Service Commission.
