Maritime Law Background
Maritime law, also known as admiralty law, is the body of legislation that deals with all maritime matters. Maritime laws exist both on the domestic and international levels, though much of the domestic legislation will have international considerations due to the nature of maritime navigation often crossing international borders. 
Admiralty Charts
Admiralty charts are naval charts or maps that are provided by the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office. This charts are made in order to assist in all navigational aspects at sea. These charts contain all sorts of different information, such as depths, hazards, tide information, and land formations. 
Shipping
Shipping done through naval sources accounts for a large portion of the entire world's economy, with nearly 90% of all international trade of goods and merchandise being done through naval shipping. In the United States, the Merchant Marines are the collection of all civilians involved in the shipping industry.
