163.10 QUARANTINING OR DESTROYING ANIMALS. The department may quarantine or destroy any animal exposed to or afflicted with an infectious or contagious disease. However, cattle exposed to or infected with tuberculosis shall not be destroyed without the owner's consent, unless there are sufficient moneys to reimburse the owner for the cattle, which may be paid from the appropriation provided in section 163.15, moneys in the brucellosis and tuberculosis eradication fund created in section 165.18, or moneys made available by the United States department of agriculture.Section History: Early Form
