People v. Redd
Case Date: 12/31/1969
Court: Supreme Court
Docket No: 76086
Docket No. 76086--Agenda 2--November 1995. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, Appellee, v. FRANK REDD, Appellant. Opinion filed May 23, 1996.
JUSTICE MILLER delivered the opinion of the court: Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, the defendant, Frank Redd, was convicted of the murder and the rape of Aretha and Leola Bea. At a separate sentencing hearing, the same jury found the defendant eligible for the death penalty. The jury further determined that there were no mitigating circumstances sufficient to preclude imposition of that sentence. The judge sentenced defendant to death for the murders and to a term of 60 years' imprisonment for each of the rape convictions. The defendant's execution has been stayed pending direct review by this court. Ill. Const. 1970, art. VI, |
