In 1993, a jury convicted defendant, Randall WayneStevens, of first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1 (West 1992)), andthe trial court sentenced him to natural life in prison. InMarch 1996, this court affirmed defendant's conviction. Peoplev. Stevens, No. 4-93-0725 (March 26, 1996) (unpublished orderunder Supreme Court Rule 23).
