JUSTICE ZWICK delivered the opinion of the court:

Plaintiff, The Habitat Company, filed this action against defendant, Michael McClure, forpossession of McClure's apartment following expiration of his lease. McClure filedcounterclaims against Habitat under the Illinois Human Rights Act (775 ILCS 5/1-101 et seq.(1993)) (IHRA) and the federal Fair Housing Amendments Act (42 U.S.C.
