§ 8.01-554. Where bond returned and filed; exceptions to bond.
Every such bond shall be returned by the officer to and filed by the clerk ofthe court in which the attachment is pending, or to which the attachment isreturnable, and the plaintiff may, within thirty days after the returnthereof, file exceptions to the same, or to the sufficiency of the suretytherein. If such exception be sustained, the court shall order the officer tofile a good bond, with sufficient surety, to be approved by it, on or beforea certain day to be fixed by the court. If he fail to do so, he and hissureties in his official bond shall be liable to the plaintiff as for abreach of such bond; but the officer shall have the same rights and remediesagainst the parties to any bonds so adjudged bad as if he were a surety forthem.
