§ 46.2-220. Special counsel for defense of law-enforcement officers.
If any law-enforcement officer appointed by the Commissioner is arrested,indicted, or prosecuted on any charge arising out of any act committed in thedischarge of his official duties, the Commissioner may employ special counselapproved by the Attorney General to defend him. The compensation for specialcounsel employed pursuant to this section shall, subject to approval of theAttorney General, be paid out of the funds appropriated for theadministration of the Department.
