§ 3.2-2802. Plant Pollination Advisory Board membership; terms; vacancies;chairman and vice-chairman; meetings.
The Plant Pollination Advisory Board shall consist of 11 members appointed bythe Governor. Members shall be appointed as follows: three members shall bebeekeepers; one member shall be a producer; one member shall be a vegetableproducer; one member shall be a fruit producer; one member shall be fromVirginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; one member shall be fromVirginia State University; one member shall be from the Department and shallserve as secretary-treasurer; one member shall be from the VirginiaDepartment of Education; and one member shall be from the Virginia CommunityCollege System. Members shall be appointed for a term of three years. TheCommissioner shall serve as an ex officio member of the Plant PollinationAdvisory Board with the power to vote.
The Commissioner shall immediately declare the office of any member of thePlant Pollination Advisory Board vacant when he finds that the member isunable to perform the duties of his office or for any reason does not meetthe qualifications of this section. The Governor shall appoint a new memberto serve for a full or unexpired term whenever the office of a member becomesor is declared vacant. In any case where a new appointment is made, theperson receiving the appointment shall be a representative of the samesegment of agriculture or government as his predecessor. No Plant PollinationAdvisory Board member except the secretary-treasurer may serve for more thantwo consecutive terms. Appointments to fill unexpired terms shall be regardedas full terms.
The Plant Pollination Advisory Board shall elect a chairman and vice-chairmanfrom among its membership. The Plant Pollination Advisory Board shall adopt ageneral statement of policy and procedures subject to approval by the Board.The Plant Pollination Advisory Board shall meet at least once a year and atsuch special meetings as the chairman may call. The chairman may call aspecial meeting at any time and shall call a special meeting when requestedby six or more members of the Plant Pollination Advisory Board. No meetingshall be deemed a regular or special meeting unless a quorum is present.
