§ 25.1-406. Moving and related expenses.

Whenever the acquisition of real property for a program or project undertakenby a state agency will result in the displacement of any person, the stateagency shall make fair and reasonable relocation payments to the displacedperson for:

1. Actual reasonable expenses in moving himself, his family, business, farmoperation, or other personal property;

2. Actual direct losses of tangible personal property as a result of movingor discontinuing a business or farm operation, which payments shall notexceed an amount equal to the reasonable expenses that would have beenrequired to relocate such property, as determined by the state agency;

3. Actual reasonable expenses in searching for a replacement business orfarm; and

4. Actual reasonable expenses necessarily incurred in reestablishing adisplaced farm, nonprofit organization or small business at its new site, inaccordance with criteria established by the state agency but not to exceed$25,000.
