§ 2.2-212. Position established; agencies for which responsible; additionalpowers.
The position of Secretary of Health and Human Resources (the Secretary) iscreated. The Secretary of Health and Human Resources shall be responsible tothe Governor for the following agencies: Department of Health, Department forthe Blind and Vision Impaired, Department of Health Professions, Departmentfor the Aging, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services,Department of Rehabilitative Services, Department of Social Services,Department of Medical Assistance Services, Child Day-Care Council, VirginiaDepartment for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, the Office of ComprehensiveServices for Youth and At-Risk Youth and Families, and the AssistiveTechnology Loan Fund Authority. The Governor may, by executive order, assignany other state executive agency to the Secretary of Health and HumanResources, or reassign any agency listed above to another Secretary.
Unless the Governor expressly reserves such power to himself, the Secretaryshall (i) serve as the lead Secretary for the coordination and implementationof the long-term care policies of the Commonwealth and for the blueprint forlivable communities 2025 throughout the Commonwealth, working with theSecretaries of Transportation, Commerce and Trade, and Education, and theCommissioner of Insurance, to facilitate interagency service development andimplementation, communication and cooperation, (ii) serve as the leadSecretary for the Comprehensive Services Act for At-Risk Youth and Families,working with the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of Public Safety tofacilitate interagency service development and implementation, communicationand cooperation, and (iii) coordinate the disease prevention activities ofagencies in the Secretariat to ensure efficient, effective delivery of healthrelated services and financing.
