§ 19.2-166. Court reporters.
Each judge of a court of record having jurisdiction over criminal proceedingsshall be authorized, in all felony cases and habeas corpus proceedings toappoint a court reporter to report proceedings or to operate mechanical orelectrical devices for recording proceedings, to transcribe the report orrecord of such proceedings, to perform any stenographic work related to suchreport, record or transcript including work pertinent to the court's findingsof fact and conclusions of law pertinent thereto. Such reporter shall be paidby the Commonwealth on a per diem or work basis as appropriate out of theappropriation for criminal charges.
