§ 15.2-728. Title insurance for county real estate.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, whenever any county purchasesreal estate for which the consideration paid exceeds $1,000, the county, inlieu of having the title examined and approved by an attorney-at-law, maypurchase an insurance policy which insures the county's interest in the titleto the property from a company which is authorized to issue such policies inthe Commonwealth. Evidence of such insurance shall be filed with the clerkfor the circuit court of the county along with the recorded deed or otherpapers by which the title is conveyed.
