§ 10.1-1106. State Forester to control forest reserves and funds;reforesting; preservation of timber, etc.
The care, management and preservation of the forest reserves of theCommonwealth and the forests thereon, and all moneys appropriated in thatbehalf, or collected therefrom in any way, and all personal and real propertyacquired to carry out the objects of this chapter, shall be subject to thecontrol of the State Forester.
The State Forester shall observe, ascertain, follow and put into effect thebest methods of reforesting cutover and denuded lands, foresting wastelands,preventing the destruction of forests by fire, the administering of forestson forestry principles, the instruction and encouragement of private ownersin preserving and growing timber for commercial and manufacturing purposes,and the general conservation of forest tracts around the headwaters and onthe watersheds of the watercourses of the Commonwealth.
