§ 3-229. Authority to create; powers and duties

The city council may by ordinance provide for the creation and maintenance of a harbor commission or a single harbor commissioner, and for the appointment of a superintendent of harbors, and define and prescribe their powers and duties in regard to the supervision, control and regulation, within the jurisdiction of the city, of harbors, public and private wharfs, docks and piers, and the waterfront within the city on Lake Champlain, under any and all lawful regulations and ordinances that may be made and enacted, and may fix the time of the appointment of such officers and their terms of office, and such officers shall receive such compensation as may be voted them by the board of aldermen.
