49-7-112. Student tuition subsidy.

(a)  (1)  Within ninety (90) days after each general appropriations act containing funding for state-supported higher education becomes law, the Tennessee higher education commission shall calculate the student tuition subsidy provided by that act at all levels of higher education.

     (2)  The student tuition subsidy shall be calculated by dividing the total appropriations for instruction and operating expenses at each state supported institution of higher education by the estimated enrollment at the institution in the next academic year.

(b)  (1)  When the student tuition subsidy is calculated, it shall be provided to all state institutions of higher education.

     (2)  When the institutions bill students or their parents or guardians for their expenses, the bills shall contain the amount of subsidy applicable to students at that institution.
