49-5-5305. Term of employment, duties, and supplement of career level II principals.

(a)  A career level II principal shall work at least an eleven-month contract.

(b)  A career level II principal shall perform the duties defined by the local board of education, as provided in § 49-2-303(b), or other duties of principals defined elsewhere in this title.

(c)  A career level II principal employed as such by an LEA shall receive a four thousand dollar ($4,000) salary supplement from the state in addition to all other compensation to which the principal may be entitled, subject to § 49-5-5308(e).

(d)  A career level II principal who is not recertified as a career level II principal shall retain any other currently valid certificate held by such person at that time, including a career level I, II or III teacher certificate issued under parts 50, 52, this part and parts 54 and 55 of this chapter.

(e)  Furthermore, the educator shall be eligible for extended employment opportunities otherwise available to teachers, pursuant to the approved local plan required by § 49-5-5209.
