45-9-18. Mechanical well logs--Reports on well location, drilling, and production--Samples, core chips, and complete cores--Filing in office of state geologist--Exception as to exploratory well. Without limiting its general authority, the Board of Minerals and Environment may require, or may delegate to the office of the state geologist, specific authority to require the making and filing in the office of the state geologist within thirty days after the completion or abandonment of the well of all mechanical well logs, directional surveys, and reports on well location, drilling, and production, and for the filing free of charge of samples and core chips and of complete cores, if taken, when requested in the office of the state geologist within six months after the completion or abandonment of the well; provided, however, that the log and samples and cores of an exploratory or wildcat well may, upon written request by the operator be held confidential until six months after the completion of the well.
