40-9-8. Compensation of owner for swine ordered destroyed. On presentation to the Animal Industry Board of evidence that any swine are known to be affected with or exposed to hog cholera and will be ordered to be disposed of as provided by § 40-9-7, the owner thereof is entitled to reimbursement by the state of a sum equal to the share of reimbursement paid by the federal government. However, the state's share may not exceed fifty dollars each on grade swine, or one hundred dollars each on registered swine, and in either case may not exceed actual value. Payment of indemnity shall commence from, and be retroactive to, the time any state or federal veterinarian is first called to the premises.
