36-6A-55. Proof of continuing education required. Every five years from original date of licensure or upon becoming registered as an advanced dental assistant, each person licensed to practice dentistry or dental hygiene or perform duties as an advanced dental assistant in this state shall provide the State Board of Dentistry evidence, of a nature suitable to the board that a licensed person or advanced dental assistant has attended, or participated in an amount of continuing education in dentistry as shall be required by the board. However, for dentists this requirement may not be less than twenty hours during the preceding five years of licensure, for dental hygienists this requirement may not be less than ten hours during the preceding five years of licensure, and for advanced dental assistants this requirement may not be less than ten hours during the preceding five years of registration as an advanced dental assistant.
