32-19-4. Traction engines operated over bridges--Planking required--Cleated traction engines--Threshing machines excepted--Violation as misdemeanor. No traction engine shall cross any bridge, crossing, or culvert in the public highway or street unless sound and strong planks not less than one foot wide and three inches thick be placed and kept continuously under the wheels. No traction engine having mud lugs, ice spurs, spikes, or chains attached to its wheels shall be moved over any bridge, culvert, or street crossing, or along or over any graded or improved road surfaced with oil, gravel, macadam, concrete, asphalt, or bitumen, without planking as provided in this section.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to threshing machine engines or tractors when traveling upon the highways other than paved or hard surfaced highways in the regular course of moving to and from the place of operation, except as it applies to the crossing of bridges and culverts.
Any person who violates any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor.
