§ 5-65.1-4 Eligibility for licensure ashome inspector. (a) To be eligible for licensure as a home inspector, an applicant shallfulfill the following requirements:
(1) Be of good moral character;
(2) Have successfully completed high school or its equivalent;
(3) Have been engaged as a licensed associate home inspectorfor no less than one year, and have performed not less than one hundred (100)home inspections for compensation, or have been a registered/licensedcontractor in good standing in any state for an aggregate of not less than five(5) years; and
(4) Have passed an examination approved or administered bythe board. The examination may have been passed before the effective date ofthis chapter.
(b) After the effective date of this chapter the board shallissue a license to any person upon application, provided that the applicantmeets:
(1) The requirements of subdivisions (a)(1), (2) and (4) ofthis section, and either:
(i) Has been engaged in the practice of home inspections forcompensation for not less than one year prior to the effective date of thischapter and has performed not less than one hundred (100) home inspections forcompensation prior to the effective date of this chapter; or
(ii) Is a registered/licensed contractor in good standing inany state for an aggregate of not less than five (5) years; or
(2) The requirements of subdivisions (a)(1) and (2) of thissection, and has been engaged in the practice of home inspections forcompensation for not less than two (2) years and performed not less than onehundred fifty (150) home inspections for compensation prior to July 1, 2006.
