§ 45-21-36 Clerical and professionalassistance Appropriations and disbursements. (a) The general treasurer, under the direction and supervision of theretirement board, is charged with the establishment and maintenance of anyaccounts and statistical records that the retirement board may require, and heor she shall employ any clerical assistance necessary to carry out properly theprovisions of chapters 21 and 21.2 of this title. The retirement board shallsecure the services of an actuary to be the actuarial advisor of the board andwho shall make the actuarial computations and valuations required by chapters21 and 21.2 of this title. The retirement board shall secure the services ofany physicians that are necessary to make the medical examinations required bychapters 21 and 21.2 of this title. The state controller is hereby authorizedand directed to draw his or her orders upon the general treasurer for thepayment of a sum or sums that may from time to time be necessary, upon receiptby him or her of vouchers prepared and duly authenticated by the chief of theretirement system.
(b) Any negotiated agreement entered into after June 1, 1992between any state or municipal agency or department and an employee oremployees, whose conditions are contrary to the general laws or the rules andregulations and policies as adopted and promulgated by the retirement board,are null and void unless and until approved by formal action of the retirementboard, for good cause shown.
