§ 45-2-4 Power to own property and makecontracts. – Cities and towns may take, purchase, and hold real and personal property, andalienate and convey the property; and may also take, hold, and manage theproperty in trust for any charitable, other than religious, uses, and may makeall contracts, including lease or lease-purchase agreements of real andpersonal property, necessary and convenient for the transaction of the businessof the city or town.
