§ 42-60.1-7 Enforcement and penalty. The director shall cause periodic inspections to be made of distributors orretailers of new appliances in order to determine compliance with this chapter.The director shall cause investigations to be made of complaints receivedconcerning violations of this chapter and shall report the results of thoseinvestigations to the attorney general. The attorney general may instituteproceedings to enforce the provisions of this chapter. Failure to comply withany of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute an unfair or deceptiveact under the provisions of the consumer protection laws of the state. Anyperson who violates any provision of this chapter shall be punished by a civilpenalty of not more than two hundred and fifty dollars ($250). Each violationof this chapter shall constitute a separate offense, and each day thatviolation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
