§ 42-14-11 Subpoena power Falseswearing. (a) In connection with any matters having to do with the discharge of his orher duties pursuant to this chapter, the director, in all cases of every naturepending before him or her, is hereby authorized and empowered to summonwitnesses to attend and testify in like manner as in either the supreme or thesuperior courts. The director is authorized to compel the production of allpapers, books, documents, records, certificates or other legal evidence thatmay be necessary for the determination and the decision of any question or thedischarge of any duty required by law of the department, including the functionof the director as a member of the board of bank incorporation and board ofbuilding-loan association incorporation, by issuing a subpoena duces tecumsigned by the director.
(b) Every person who disobeys this writ shall be consideredin contempt of the department, and the department may punish that and any othercontempt of the authority in like manner as contempt may be punished in eitherthe supreme or the superior court.
(c) Any person who shall willfully swear falsely in anyproceedings, matter or hearing before the department shall be deemed guilty ofthe crime of perjury.
