§ 42-14.5-4 Actuary and subject matterexperts. The health insurance commissioner may contract with an actuary and/or othersubject matter experts to assist him or her in conducting the study requiredunder subsection 42-14.5-3(g). The actuary or other expert shall serve underthe direction of the health insurance commissioner. Health insurance companiesdoing business in this state, including, but not limited to, nonprofit hospitalservice corporations and nonprofit medical service corporations establishedpursuant to chapters 27-19 and 27-20, and health maintenance organizationsestablished pursuant to chapter 27-41, shall be assessed according to aschedule of their direct writing of health insurance in this state to pay forthe compensation of the actuary. The amount assessed to all health insurancecompanies doing business in this state for the study conducted under subsection42-14.5-3(g) shall not exceed a total of one hundred thousand dollars($100,000).
