§ 33-6-17 General devises and bequests. A general devise of the real estate of the testator, or of the real estate ofthe testator in any place or in the occupation of any person mentioned in hisor her will, or otherwise described in a general manner, shall be construed toinclude any real estate or any real estate to which the description shallextend, as the case may be, which he or she may have power to appoint in anymanner he or she may think proper, and shall operate as an execution of suchpower, unless a contrary intention shall appear by the will. In like manner, abequest of the personal estate of the testator or any bequest of personalproperty described in a general manner shall be construed to include anypersonal estate or any personal estate to which the description shall extend,as the case may be, which he or she may have power to appoint in any manner heor she may think proper, and shall operate as an execution of such power,unless a contrary intention shall appear by the will.
