§ 27-3-41 Service of process. – No person licensed to act as a surplus line broker in the state shall place anyrisk with any unauthorized insurer unless that insurer has previously, inwriting, appointed that broker as an agent for the acceptance of service ofprocess, or unless the unauthorized insurer shall have designated a RhodeIsland representative as an agent for the service of process, copies of whichshall be filed with the insurance commissioner. The designation of a licensedbroker or other representative for the purpose stated shall be cumulative toany other methods which may be provided by law for service of process upon anunauthorized insurer.
