§ 23-65-7 Certification process. A person who desires to be certified as an operator of a water supply treatmentfacility or a water transmission and distribution system shall file with theboard of certification of operators of water supply facilities, established bythis chapter, an application upon a form to be furnished by the board. Theapplicant shall include in the application his or her qualifications underoath. If the qualifications of the applicant meet or exceed the minimumqualifications established by the board for the certification type and gradefor which they have applied, the applicant will be allowed to take acertification examination. Examinations shall be held at least twice each yearat a time and place designated by the board. If the applicant passes theexamination to the satisfaction of the board, the board shall issue theapplicant a certification, which shall be in effect for three years fromissuance, and may be renewed at that time, provided the operator is in goodstead with the board and all conditions outlined in this chapter concerningcontinuing education are met. The board may establish, through its rules andregulations, provisions for the issuance of temporary emergency or provisionalcertification to be effective for a period of no longer than one year for goodcause shown.
