§ 23-33-2 - Formulation and adoption of codes.
SECTION 23-33-2
§ 23-33-2 Formulation and adoption ofcodes. – The code commission for occupational safety and health created by chapter 20 oftitle 28 shall, under and pursuant to the provisions of that chapter, formulateand/or adopt a code of rules for the construction, inspection, maintenance, andoperation of new elevators, escalators and other devices subject to theprovisions of this chapter. The commission shall, likewise, also formulateand/or adopt its own standard code of rules, under and pursuant to theprovisions of chapter 20 of title 28, for the construction, inspection,maintenance, and operation of all existing elevators and other devices withinthis state. These codes shall, in general, conform to nationally acceptedsafety codes of such engineering bodies as the American standards association,the American society of mechanical engineers, and American society of safetyengineers, and other accepted codes. The codes adopted under this section, withany and all other later revisions or editions upon their effective date shallhave the force and effect of law.
