§ 17-9.1-17 Reregistration Noticeto city or town of previous address. (a) A voter may register in a city or town into which he or she has movedwhether or not the voter has notified the board of the city or town in whichthe voter was last registered of the voter's change of address. The action ofregistration shall automatically cancel the voter's registration in the formercity or town.
(b) The local board of any city or town shall, upon receivingthe registration of any person, notify the board of the city or town stated bythe person to be that person's last place of residence, of the registration. Atthat time, the last mentioned board shall retain the original registration cardof the person in accordance with the approved records retention schedule forboards of canvassers issued by the state archives.
(c) The state board shall have authority by regulation todirect the manner in which the provisions of this section are carried out bythe local boards and the secretary of state.
