§ 11-52.2-6 Civil action. (1) A person who is injured under this chapter may bring a civil action in thesuperior court to enjoin further violations, or to seek up to one thousanddollars ($1,000) per violation, or actual damages, whichever is greater. Theinjured individuals may bring their cause of action as a class action. Nothingin this section prohibits the attorney general from bringing a class actionsuit under § 6-13.1-5.
(2) In an action under subsection (1) of this section, acourt may increase the damages up to three (3) times the damages allowed bysubsection (1) of this section if the defendant has engaged in a pattern andpractice of violating this chapter. The court may also award costs andreasonable attorneys' fees to the prevailing party.
