5907.12 [Effective Until 9/17/2010] Volunteer programs.
The director of veterans services may utilize the services of volunteers to assist in attending to and caring for residents, assisting in resident activities, caring for veterans’ homes’ buildings and grounds, and participating in any other services that accomplish any of the director’s purposes related to veterans’ homes. All volunteer programs are subject to the director’s approval. The director may recruit, train, and supervise the services of community volunteers or volunteer groups for volunteer programs. The director may designate volunteers as state employees for the purpose of motor vehicle accident liability insurance under section 9.83 of the Revised Code and for the purpose of indemnification from liability incurred in the performance of their duties under section 9.87 of the Revised Code.
