4730.19 Supervision agreement approval procedure.
(A) For a supervision agreement to be approved by the board, all of the following apply:
(1) The supervision agreement shall specify that the physician agrees to supervise the physician assistant and the physician assistant agrees to practice in accordance with the conditions specified in the physician supervisory plan approved for that physician or the policies of the health care facility in which the supervising physician and physician assistant are practicing.
(2) The agreement shall be signed by the physician and the physician assistant.
(3) The physician assistant shall hold a current certificate to practice as a physician assistant .
(4) If a physician supervisory plan applies to the physician assistant’s practice, the physician shall hold an approved physician supervisory plan.
(5) If the physician intends to grant physician-delegated prescriptive authority to a physician assistant, the physician assistant shall hold a certificate to prescribe issued under this chapter.
(6) If the physician holds approval of more than one physician supervisory plan, the agreement shall specify the plan under which the physician assistant will practice.
(B) The board shall review each application received. If the board finds that the requirements specified in division (A) of this section have been met and the applicant has paid the fee specified in section 4730.18 of the Revised Code, the board shall approve the supervision agreement and notify the supervising physician of the board’s approval. If physician-delegated prescriptive authority will be granted to more than one physician assistant under the supervision agreement, the board shall specify in the notice that its approval is specific to each physician assistant. The board shall provide notice of its approval of a supervision agreement not later than thirty days after the board receives a complete application for approval.
(C) After a supervision agreement is approved, a physician may apply to the board for approval to initiate supervision of a physician assistant who is not listed on the agreement. There is no fee for applying for the addition of a physician assistant to a supervision agreement. To receive the board’s approval of the addition to the supervision agreement, the physician assistant shall hold a current certificate to practice as a physician assistant. If the physician intends to grant physician-delegated prescriptive authority to the physician assistant, the physician assistant shall hold a current certificate to prescribe. If these requirements are met, the board shall notify the physician of its approval of the addition to the supervision agreement. The board shall provide notice of its approval not later than thirty days after the board receives a complete application for approval.
