4507.45 Reinstatement fee.
If a person’s driver’s license, commercial driver’s license, or nonresident operating privilege is suspended, disqualified, or canceled for an indefinite period of time or for a period of at least ninety days, and if at the end of the period of suspension, disqualification, or cancellation the person is eligible to have the license or privilege reinstated, the registrar of motor vehicles shall collect a reinstatement fee of forty dollars when the person requests reinstatement. However, the registrar shall not collect the fee prescribed by this section if a different driver’s license, commercial driver’s license, or nonresident operating privilege reinstatement fee is prescribed by law.
The registrar shall deposit ten dollars of each forty-dollar fee into the state treasury to the credit of the indigent defense support fund created by section 120.08 of the Revised Code and thirty dollars of each fee into the state treasury to the credit of the state bureau of motor vehicles fund created by section 4501.25 of the Revised Code.
