4503.42 Special reserved license plate numbers - fee.
For each registration renewal with an expiration date before October 1, 2009, and for each initial application for registration received before that date the registrar of motor vehicles shall be allowed a fee not to exceed thirty-five dollars, and for each registration renewal with an expiration date on or after October 1, 2009, and for each initial application for registration received on or after that date the registrar shall be allowed a fee of fifty dollars, which shall be in addition to the regular license fee for tags as prescribed under section 4503.04 of the Revised Code and any tax levied under section 4504.02 or 4504.06 of the Revised Code, for each application received by the registrar for special reserved license plate numbers containing more than three letters or numerals, and the issuing of such licenses and validation stickers in the several series as the registrar may designate. Five dollars of the fee shall be for the purpose of compensating the bureau of motor vehicles for additional services required in the issuing of such licenses and validation stickers, and the remaining portion of the fee shall be deposited by the registrar into the state treasury to the credit of the state highway safety fund created by section 4501.06 of the Revised Code.
This section does not apply to the issuance of reserved license plates as authorized by sections 4503.14, 4503.15, and 4503.40 of the Revised Code. The types of motor vehicles for which license plate numbers containing more than three letters or numerals may be issued in accordance with this section shall include at least buses, passenger cars, and noncommercial motor vehicles.
