122.981 Ohio aerospace and defense advisory council - powers and duties.
(A) The Ohio aerospace and defense advisory council may do any of the following:
(1) Conduct an examination of existing and proposed laws, rules, and policies of this state or the United States that affect or may affect the growth and viability of the aerospace and defense industries in this state and the status of federal installations in this state associated with those industries; an examination of problems that the aerospace and defense industries in this state face at any particular time, including problems arising from foreign competition or the economic climate in this state; and an examination of technology commercialization and other matters relevant to the future of the aerospace and defense industries in this state;
(2) Advise federal, state, and local government officials on questions and matters affecting the aerospace and defense industries in this state.
(B) The council shall submit an annual report not later than the first day of October of each year to the speaker and minority leader of the house of representatives, the president and minority leader of the senate, and the chairpersons of the standing committees of the house of representatives and senate to which matters concerning economic development are normally referred. The council also shall submit the report to the director of development, who shall make copies of the report available to members of the public upon request. The department of development staff assigned to the council shall keep a record of all requests.
The report shall describe the council’s activities during the previous year. The report may propose methods to expand the aerospace and defense industries in this state; identify problems facing the aerospace and defense industries in this state that were discovered during the council’s activities; and make recommendations to modify state statutes, rules, or policies.
Following submission of the annual report as described in this division, a member of the council designated by the chairperson shall provide testimony concerning the report to the standing committees of the house of representatives and senate to which matters concerning economic development are normally referred or at a joint hearing or hearings of those committees set for that purpose.
