§ 95‑73.  Collectionsout of State to avoid exemptions forbidden.

No resident creditor or otherholder of any book account, negotiable instrument, duebill or other monetarydemand arising out of contract, due by or chargeable against any resident wageearner or other salaried employee of any railway corporation or othercorporation, firm, or individual engaged in interstate business shall send outof the State, assign, or transfer the same, for value or otherwise, with intentto thereby deprive such debtor of his personal earnings and property exempt bylaw from application to the payment of his debts under the laws of the State ofNorth Carolina, by instituting or causing to be instituted thereon against suchdebtor, in any court outside of this State, in such creditor's own name or inthe name of any other person, any action, suit, or proceeding for theattachment or garnishment of such debtor's earnings in the hands of hisemployer, when such creditor and debtor and the railway corporation or othercorporation, firm, or individual owing the wages or salary intended to bereached are under the jurisdiction of the courts of this State.
