§86A‑11. Temporary permits.
(a) The Board may granta temporary permit to work to a graduate of a barber school in North Carolinaprovided application for examination has been filed and fee paid. The permit isvalid only until the date of the next succeeding Board examination ofapplicants for apprenticeship registration except in cases of undue hardship asthe Board may determine, unless it is revoked or suspended earlier by theBoard. In no event shall a temporary permit be issued or remain valid after theholder has twice failed the apprentice examination required by G.S. 86A‑24(a).The permittee may operate only under the supervision of a licensed barber andmay work only at the registered barbershop specified in the permit.
(b) The Board may granta temporary permit to work to one whose license has been expired for more thanfive years in North Carolina provided application for examination to restorehas been filed and fee paid. The permit is valid only until the date of thenext succeeding Board examination of applicants for barber licenses except incases of undue hardship as the Board may determine, unless it is revoked orsuspended earlier by the Board.
(c) The Board may granta temporary permit to persons licensed in another state who come to NorthCarolina for the purpose of teaching or demonstrating barber skills. The Boardshall also inspect and approve the area where the demonstration is to be givenif it is not an already approved shop or school. This permit shall be limitedto the specific days of demonstration and shall be of no validity before orafter.
(d) The Board may granta temporary permit to work to persons licensed in another state and seekingpermanent licensure in North Carolina under G.S. 86A‑12.
