§1C‑1829. Enforcement of foreign judgments.
Subject to the provisions ofArticle 17 and 18 of this Chapter:
(a) If an action isbrought to enforce a judgment of another jurisdiction expressed in a foreignmoney and the judgment is recognized in this State as enforceable, theenforcing judgment shall be entered as provided in G.S. 1C‑1826, whetheror not the foreign judgment confers an option to pay in an equivalent amount ofUnited States dollars.
(b) A foreign judgmentmay be filed or docketed in accordance with any rule or statute of this Stateproviding a procedure for its recognition and enforcement.
(c) A satisfaction orpartial payment made upon the foreign judgment, on proof thereof, shall becredited against the amount of foreign money specified in the judgment,notwithstanding the entry of judgment in this State.
(d) A judgment enteredon a foreign‑money claim only in United States dollars in another stateshall be enforced in this State in United States dollars only. (1995,c. 213, s. 1.)
