§ 15A‑1464. Terms ofmembers; compensation; expenses.
(a) Of the initialmembers, two appointments shall be for one‑year terms, three appointmentsshall be for two‑year terms, and three appointments shall be for three‑yearterms. Thereafter, all terms shall be for three years. Members of theCommission shall serve no more than two consecutive three‑year terms plusany initial term of less than three years. Unless provided otherwise by thisact, all terms of members shall begin on January 1 and end on December 31.
Members serving by virtue ofelective or appointive office, except for the sheriff, may serve only so longas the officeholders hold those respective offices. The Chief Justice mayremove members, with cause. Vacancies occurring before the expiration of a termshall be filled in the manner provided for the members first appointed.
(b) The Commissionmembers shall receive no salary for serving. All Commission members shallreceive necessary subsistence and travel expenses in accordance with the provisionsof G.S. 138‑5 and G.S. 138‑6, as applicable. (2006‑184, s. 1.)
