§15A‑1346.  Commencement of probation; multiple sentence.

 (a) Commencement ofProbation. – Except as provided in subsection (b), a period of probationcommences on the day it is imposed and runs concurrently with any other periodof probation, parole, or imprisonment to which the defendant is subject duringthat period.

(b)        Consecutive andConcurrent Sentences. – If a period of probation is being imposed at the sametime a period of imprisonment is being imposed or if it is being imposed on aperson already subject to an undischarged term of imprisonment, the period ofprobation may run either concurrently or consecutively with the term ofimprisonment, as determined by the court. If not specified, it runsconcurrently. (1977, c. 711, s. 1.)
