§15‑7. Postmortem examinations directed.
In all cases of homicide, anyofficer prosecuting for the State may, at any time, direct a postmortemexamination of the deceased to be made by one or more physicians to be summonedfor the purpose; and the physicians shall be paid a reasonable compensation forsuch examination, the amount to be determined by the court and taxed in thecosts, and if not collected out of the defendant the same shall be paid by theState.
