§ 143B‑86. America's Four Hundredth Anniversary Committee members; selection; quorum;compensation.
The America's Four Hundredth Anniversary Committee shall consist of 14members as follows: 10 members at large appointed by the Governor and four exofficio members as follows: the mayor of the Town of Manteo, the Secretary ofEnvironment and Natural Resources, the chairman of the Roanoke IslandHistorical Association, and the chairman of the Dare County Board ofCommissioners, or their designees. Of the initial members of the America's FourHundredth Anniversary Committee appointed by the Governor five shall beappointed for terms expiring June 30, 1975, and five for terms expiring June30, 1977. At the end of their respective terms of office, the appointmentsshall be for a term of four years and until their successors are appointed andqualify. Any appointment to fill a vacancy on the Committee created by theresignation, dismissal, death, or disability of a member shall be for thebalance of the unexpired term.
The Governor shall have the power to remove any member of the Committeefrom office in accordance with the provisions of G.S. 143B‑16 of theExecutive Organization Act of 1973.
The Governor shall designate a member of the Committee to serve as chairmanat his pleasure.
Members of the Committee shall receive per diem and necessary traveland subsistence expenses in accordance with the provisions of G.S. 138‑5.
