§ 143B‑180. Governor's Advisory Council onAging creation, powers and duties.
There is hereby created the Governor's Advisory Council on Aging of theDepartment of Health and Human Services. The Advisory Council on Aging shallhave the following functions and duties:
(1) To make recommendations to the Governor and the Secretary ofHealth and Human Services aimed at improving human services to the elderly;
(2) To study ways and means of promoting public understanding ofthe problems of the aging, to consider the need for new State programs in thefield of aging, and to make recommendations to and advise the Governor and theSecretary on these matters;
(3) To advise the Department of Health and Human Services in thepreparation of a plan describing the quality, extent and scope of servicesbeing provided, or to be provided, to elderly persons in North Carolina;
(4) To study the programs of all State agencies which provideservices for elderly persons and to advise the Governor and the Secretary ofHealth and Human Services on the coordination of programs to preventduplication and overlapping of such services;
(5) To advise the Governor and the Secretary of Health and HumanServices upon any matter which the Governor and the Secretary may refer to it. (1973, c. 476, s. 171; 1977, c. 242, s. 1; 1983, c.40, s. 1; 1997‑443, s. 11A.118(a).)
