§ 143‑718. Powersand duties.
The Commission shall have the following powers and duties:
(1) To administer the provisions of this Article.
(2) To develop compensatory programs and qualified agricultureprograms, including guidelines and criteria for eligibility for anddisbursement of funds, the forms of direct and indirect economic assistance tobe awarded, and procedures for applying for and reviewing applications forassistance from the Fund. In developing guidelines and criteria for eligibilityand disbursement of funds, the Commission may consult with and otherwise obtainassistance from the State and local offices of the Farm Service Agency andother agencies of the United States Department of Agriculture.
(3) To provide financial assistance to eligible recipients, incarrying out compensatory programs and qualified agricultural programs.
(4) To hire staff for the administration of the Fund.
(5) To contract with other persons to assist in theadministration of the Commission's programs.
(6) To accept gifts or grants from other sources.
(7) To adopt rules to implement this Article. (2000‑147, s. 3.)
