§ 143‑151.51. (Effective until October 1, 2011) Requirements to be licensed as a homeinspector.
To be licensed as a homeinspector, an applicant must do all of the following:
(1) Submit a completedapplication to the Board upon a form provided by the Board.
(2) Pass a licensingexamination prescribed by the Board.
(3) Have minimum netassets or a bond in an amount determined by the Board. The amount may not beless than five thousand dollars ($5,000) nor more than ten thousand dollars($10,000).
(4) Pay the applicablefees.
(5) Meet one of thefollowing three conditions:
a. Have a high schooldiploma or its equivalent, have been engaged as a licensed associate homeinspector for at least one year, and have completed 100 home inspections forcompensation.
b. Have education andexperience the Board considers to be equivalent to that required by subpart a.of this subdivision.
c. Be licensed as ageneral contractor under Article 1 of Chapter 87 of the General Statutes, as anarchitect under Chapter 83A of the General Statutes, or as a professionalengineer under Chapter 89C of the General Statutes. (1993 (Reg. Sess., 1994), c.724, s. 1.)
§ 143‑151.51. (Effective October 1, 2011) Requirements to be licensed as a home inspector.
(a) LicensureEligibility. To be eligible to be licensed as a home inspector, an applicantmust do all of the following:
(1) Submit a completedapplication to the Board upon a form provided by the Board.
(2) Pass a licensingexamination prescribed by the Board.
(3) Repealed by SessionLaws 2009‑509, s. 2.2, effective October 1, 2011.
(4) Pay the applicablefees.
(5) Meet one of thefollowing three conditions:
a. Have a high schooldiploma or its equivalent and satisfactorily complete an education programapproved by the Board. The program must be completed within three years of thedate the applicant submits an application for licensure under this section.
b. Have education andexperience the Board considers to be equivalent to that required by sub‑subdivisiona. of this subdivision.
c. Be licensed for atleast six months as a general contractor under Article 1 of Chapter 87 of theGeneral Statutes, as an architect under Chapter 83A of the General Statutes, oras a professional engineer under Chapter 89C of the General Statutes. A personqualifying under this sub‑subdivision on or after October 1, 2011, mustremain in good standing with the person's respective licensing board.
(b) License. Uponcompliance with the conditions of licensure under subsection (a) of thissection, to be eligible to be licensed as a home inspector, an applicant mustmeet all of the insurance requirements of this subsection.
(1) General liabilityinsurance in the amount of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000), whichinsurance may be individual coverage or coverage under an employer policy, withcoverage parameters established by the Board.
(2) One of thefollowing:
a. Minimum net assetsin an amount determined by the Board, which amount may not be less than fivethousand dollars ($5,000) nor more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000).
b. A bond in an amountdetermined by the Board, which amount may not be less than five thousanddollars ($5,000) nor more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000).
c. Errors and omissionsinsurance in the amount of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000), whichinsurance may be individual coverage or coverage under an employer policy, withcoverage parameters established by the Board. (1993 (Reg. Sess., 1994), c. 724, s. 1; 2009‑509,s. 2.2.)
