§14‑288.10. Frisk of persons during violent disorders; frisk of curfewviolators.
(a) Any law‑enforcementofficer may frisk any person in order to discover any dangerous weapon orsubstance when he has reasonable grounds to believe that the person is or maybecome unlawfully involved in an existing riot and when the person is closeenough to such riot that he could become immediately involved in the riot. Theofficer may also at that time inspect for the same purpose the contents of anypersonal belongings that the person has in his possession.
(b) Any law‑enforcementofficer may frisk any person he finds violating the provisions of a curfewproclaimed under the authority of G.S. 14‑288.12, 14‑288.13, 14‑288.14,or 14‑288.15 or any other applicable statutes or provisions of the commonlaw in order to discover whether the person possesses any dangerous weapon orsubstance. The officer may also at that time inspect for the same purpose thecontents of any personal belongings that the person has in his possession. (1969,c. 869, s. 1.)
