§ 131E‑295. Powersof insurers and medical service corporations.
Notwithstanding any provision of the insurance and hospital or medicalservice corporation laws contained in Articles 1 through 67 of Chapter 58 ofthe General Statutes, an insurer or a hospital or medical service corporationmay contract with a provider sponsored organization to provide insurance orsimilar protection against the cost of care provided through provider sponsoredorganizations and their sponsoring providers to beneficiaries and to providecoverage in the event of the failure of the provider sponsored organization orits sponsoring providers to meet its obligations under the PSO's Medicarecontract. The beneficiaries of a provider sponsored organization constitute apermissible group under these laws. Among other things, under these contracts,the insurer or hospital or medical service corporation may make benefitpayments to provider sponsored organizations for health care services renderedby providers pursuant to the health care plan.
